According to the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA), U.S. sales of heavy-duty trucks reached the third-highest level in history in June, 2015. Sales are attributed to large fleet orders placed back in the fall and winter of 2014 that are now being delivered. The June sales record continues a growth phase within the industry and experts believe the trend will continue into the future.
Sales Soar This Summer
June’s sales volume was 18% higher than May, 2015 and was the most ever for the month of June. In all, 25,369 Class 8 trucks were sold, representing a 31% increase over last year. The last highest record for June was set back in 2006 with the sale of 25,240 Class 8 trucks. Best of all, HDMA projects that sales will continue and will sustain a positive outlook for the heavy-duty trucking industry through 2015.
